Most of us have in some way been shocked by the recent quakes in Nepal. My wife and I honeymooned there back in ’92. I remember the friendliness and generosity of the people as much as the magnificence of the mountains.
Georgie, Caroline and Yvonne, ladies from the North York Moors Athletics Club, and friends have been attempting complete a continuous relay run up and down Roseberry Topping aiming to climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest. With 216m for each ascent of Roseberry this will mean over 50 ascents will be needed to accumulate the 11,000 metres equivalent of Everest. The relay will continue throughout the night. I’ve put my name down for a 12:30 leg in the morning. Not much sleep tonight then.
The photo shows Caroline beginning the descent of Roseberry early this morning.
If you would care to make a donation to the DEC Nepal Earthquake Appeal the girls would very much appreciate it. The website is https://www.justgiving.com/Georgie-Hill.
