Browncove Crags on Helvellyn

An overcast day on Helvellyn. This is Browncove Crags on the north of the massif. In the right distance is Skiddaw, at 931m high, the fourth highest mountain in England.

Down below is Thirlmere, a reservoir supplying water to Manchester which was controversial went it was built in the 19th century but is now such an integral part of the Lake District. For film buffs a (very short) clip of Thirlemere appears in the new Start Wars trailer with a X Wing skimming the surface. I guess that bit’s CGI.
