Torre di Toblin

View from the summit of Torre Toblino, an important Austrian observation point during the Mountain War of 1915-17. My son, Sam, is about to descend the via ferrata Sentiero del Curato Militare Hosp Torre Toblino. This was the orginal route to the observation point which could only be used during after nightfall as it was exposed to Italian fire. Eventually a more sheltered route up the north face was constructed. That was the via ferrata we used to ascend today. The remains of the original wooden ladders could still be seen.

The ridge in the distance is that of Monte Paterno.
