A Border Leicester Sheep

I pass these rabbit eared sheep most days. I stand to be corrected but I think they’re Border Leicesters, a breed of sheep originating in the 18c in Dishley, Leicestershire. They were taken up by a Northumberland estate which bred a hardier variation that became known as Border Leicesters.

Border Leicesters produce good quality, early maturing lambs and its fleece was traditionally popular in carpet production.
