Boxing Day Hunt

One of the ideas I had went I started this blog was to document the life of the village throughout the year. I don’t necessarily agree with all of that life, fox hunting is one aspect I find just pathetic. Traditionally the Cleveland Hunt set out on their Boxing Day hunt from the village green in Great Ayton. Prior to the start at 11:00 the gathering is watched by a crowd of followers. Riders are plied with sherry and comestibles while posing for photographs with the hounds which of course can not be used to hunt foxes. So I suppose these hounds will follow the purposely laid scent trail and ignore any fox trails which it happens to cross.
