Headed over to Port Mulgrave to take a look at the landslip that’s occurred. News reports were that the path down to the beach was closed as well as the Cleveland Way. A low tide meant I could use the coast but the locals had already found another way down through the bracken. And the Cleveland Way back to Staithes was fully open. Staithes is more photogenic than a lot of mud and a tangle of scrub. Quite sobering though. The power of nature. Really needed to be airborne.
The Cod & Lobster is “last” inn in Staithes, the picturesque fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast. Before the new sea wall was built the inn would take the full brunt of the North Sea. It is said that you had to dash in or out between breaking waves.
