Wood Anemones

Bluebells are not the only good displays in the woods in Springtime. These are Wood Anemones on the banks of Dundale Beck near Kildale with just the odd Bluebell poking through. Like other members of the Buttercup family Wood Anemones are poisonous but that hasn’t stopped them being used in folk medicine for the treatment of gout, stomach pains, whooping cough, menstruation and asthma.
